Sébastien Léger (born January 17, 1979 in Breda , Netherlands) is a French musician , label founder and DJ . With a French touch , he produces in the genres of electronic dance music house , electro and techno . He also released his music under the stage names Elesse, Sebago, The Last Blade or The White Duck, as well as in the duo Deaf'n Dumb Crew.
The son of a family of musicians took piano and percussion lessons from the age of 5 to 15, studying the technique of instrumental playing and music theory. At the age of 14 he discovered the record stores and was impressed by artists such as Ian Pooley , Daft Punk , Laidback Luke and DJ Sneak . As a result, Léger himself stepped behind the turntables. As a drummer, it was easy for him to develop his DJ skills.
In 1998 he worked on his first house and techno productions, equipped with the Akai MPC 2000 hardware sequencer . His first EP appeared in the same year under the pseudonym Deaf'n Dumb Crew . The project is a cooperation with Nicolas De Floriant. In the following two years Léger produced more than thirty records on numerous international record labels such as Black Jack and Riviera, which established his reputation as a producer and musician. He then moved to Aix-en-Provence, France , where he met Paul Johnson . “It was through this contact,” Léger remembers, “that I understood the essence of the Chicago sound. What impressed me most was not necessarily the musical, it was more the point of view of the usual behavior of American would-be stars. ”Working for the Black Jack label gives him the opportunity to meet numerous Chicago House artists . He learned a great deal from them, but his aim was to innovate, not to imitate.
At the age of 23, Léger released his album King Size after the singles PYT , Victory and We Are , a mixture of garage house and the funk of the 1970s and early 1980s. The American techno producer Josh Wink advocated the growing French touch and released a single with Léger on his label Ovum Recordings. After working with advertising agencies from Germany, the United Kingdom and the USA , Léger releases his mix CD Medley , a compilation of old tracks from the Black Jack and Riviera labels. A few months later, a minimally altered version of Lil 'Louis French Kiss appeared as Grab My Hipps . The release caused discussions because of the record cover, which was classified as sexist. Léger has contracts as resident DJ , in La Hague and Amsterdam . In the summer of 2004 the Frenchman moved to the Netherlands . After seven months of working intensively with his effects devices and the MPC, Sébastien worked on his new electro - acid album Man vs. Machine, which appeared on his label Black Jack. At the same time he also started a DJ tour under this name.
