Claudia Buckenmaier

Claudia Buckenmaier (* 1964 in Hechingen ) is a German journalist .

Buckenmaier grew up in the Swabian town of Hechingen. She studied political science and German language and literature in Tübingen and Frankfurt am Main , after which she completed an internship at Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). From 1993 she worked there as a freelancer in the current affairs / television program area. In 1997 she became a permanent editor in the foreign editorial department of NDR and moderated the show Weltbilder . From 1999 she was editor of the NDR in the ARD capital studio in Berlin .

Buckenmaier gained international experience when she worked as a substitute correspondent for the ARD television studio in London (NDR) in 2006. From July 2007 to July 2012 Claudia Buckenmaier was the head of the ARD studio in Stockholm and reported for ARD from Scandinavia and the Baltic States . Since July 2012 she has been the head of the foreign editorial office of the NDR in Hamburg . She has been the ARD correspondent in Washington since July 2017.
