Claudia Fährenkemper

Claudia Fährenkemper (born October 14, 1959 in Castrop-Rauxel ) is a German photographer and teacher. She currently lives in Werne .

Life

Claudia Fährenkemper studied art and geography at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1979 . She later studied photography at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences , then moved back to Düsseldorf in 1989 and studied in Bernd Becher's class . She is considered to be the representative of the Düsseldorf Photo School . In addition to her photographic work, she is currently teaching at the St. Christophorus high school in Werne.

Fährenkemper photographs both large objects and landscapes such as machines in open- cast lignite mining as well as the smallest objects with the aid of microscopes. Among other things, she worked on the microphotography of insects with a scanning electron microscope .

In 2010 she won the art-in-building competition of the Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, along with other artists . The ministry is now exhibiting black and white photographs of plant seeds that were produced with the aid of a scanning electron microscope.
