Claudia Hämmerling (born September 23, 1954 in Woltersdorf ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). She was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 1995 to 2016 .

Life

Hämmerling, who grew up in Berlin-Blankenburg , graduated from high school in 1973. She graduated from the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1977 as a teacher for sports and geography and then taught in Berlin-Pankow until 1986 . From 1991 to 1992 she worked at the Pankow Environment Agency. Hämmerling is married and has two sons. She has lived in Thuringia since 2016.

politics

Hämmerling came to the New Forum in 1989 through the civil rights movement of the GDR and was parliamentary group spokesperson and chairwoman of the environmental committee in the Berlin-Weißensee district council from 1990 to 1992 .

As a member of Bündnis 90 , Hämmerling joined Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in 1993.

From 1992 to 1995 she was District Councilor for Social Affairs and Deputy District Mayor of Weißensee.

In 1995 she was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives, to which she was a member until 2016. From 1997 to 1999 she was chairwoman of the committee for urban development, environmental protection and technology and from 2001 to 2002 she was deputy group chairwoman. In the 16th electoral term she was a member of the Presidium and a member of the Urban Development and Transport Committee. She was also the transport and animal welfare spokesperson for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group. In the 17th electoral term she was a member of the Sports Committee.

Claudia Hämmerling has been an author of children's books since 2016. She has been the second chairwoman of the Berlin Animal Welfare Association since 2017.
