Claudia Scheler

Claudia Scheler (born January 1, 1954 in Miltenberg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She is the mother of an adult son.

Professional background

She graduated from high school in 1973. From 1973 to 1979 she studied educational science at the University of Düsseldorf and at the Rhineland University of Education . She completed her studies in 1979 as a qualified pedagogue. From 1979 to 1982 she worked as a pedagogical assistant at the family education center of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt in Düsseldorf. From 1982 to 1995 she headed the Paul-Gerlach-Bildungswerk der Arbeiterwohlfahrt.

Political career

Claudia Scheler has been a member of the SPD since 1973. From 1992 to 1999 she was deputy state chairwoman of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women (AsF). From 1984 to 1994 she sat on the city council of Düsseldorf and from 1989 to 1994 in the landscape assembly of the Rhineland Regional Council . From 1995 to 2010 she was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the 14th electoral term she was the cultural policy spokeswoman for her parliamentary group and a member of the main committee.
