Claudia of Lorraine

Claude Françoise de Lorraine (German: Claudia Franziska von Lothringen ), (born October 6, 1612 in Nancy , † August 2, 1648 in Vienna ) was the second daughter of Heinrich II. (Lorraine) and his second wife Margarita Gonzaga , daughter of Vincenzo I. Gonzaga . She was the younger sister of Nicole (Lorraine) .

Life

Claudia von Lothringen grew up with her older sister in Nancy. Her father died in 1624, Nicole succeeded him as Duchess of Lorraine.

On February 17, 1634 she married Nicholas II (Lorraine) . Your children were:

  • Ferdinand Philipp (December 29, 1639 - April 1, 1659)
  • Charles V (April 3, 1643 - April 18, 1690), titular Duke of Lorraine
  • Anne Eléanore (May 12, 1645 - February 28, 1648)

Claudia died in childbed in Vienna shortly after the birth of twins Anne and Marie Anne. She was buried in the church of Saint-François-des-Cordeliers in Nancy.
