Claudio Bassetti
Claudio Bassetti (* 1958 in Ticino ) is a Swiss neurologist .
Live and act
Bassetti completed his medical studies in 1985 at the University of Basel . From 1988 to 1992 he completed further training as a neurologist at the Neurology Clinics of the Inselspital Bern and the Center hospitalier universitaire vaudois in Lausanne . From 1992 to 1999 he was senior physician for neurology at Inselspital. From 2000 to 2009, Basetti was professor and deputy head of the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Zurich . Since 2010 he has been professor of neurology and chief physician of the neurological clinic at Inselspital.
His scientific focus is narcolepsy as well as sleep and stroke.
Bassetti founded experimental sleep laboratories and the Neurological Center Lugano. From 2008 to 2012 Bassetti was President of the European Sleeping Society . From 2009 to 2103, Bassetti was President of the Swiss Neurological Society and the Swiss Federation of Clinical Neurosocieties . In 2013 he became President of the European Society of Neurology .
