Claudio Glaentzer

Claudio Glaentzer (* 22. February 1951 in Rome ) is an Italian diplomat in retirement .

Life

Claudio Glaentzer studied until 1975 law and 1976-1980 Political Science at the University of Rome . In 1986 he joined the foreign service. In 1987 he was promoted to second class secretary in the Foreign Ministry . In 1988 he was promoted to first class secretary at the embassy in Tehran . From 1992 to 1994 he headed the Consulate General in Calcutta . In 1995 he headed the Consulate General in Leipzig. From 1996 to 1997 he was counselor in the Foreign Ministry. From 1998 to 2001 he headed the Consulate General in Mumbai , where he was promoted to First Class Counselor in 2001.

From 2001 to 2004 he was first class counselor in Tokyo , where he was accepted into the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic . In 2005 he headed the finance department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2006 to 2008 he headed the data department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was promoted to envoy in 2008. From 2008 to 2011 he was ambassador to Kabul . From January 9, 2012 to October 15, 2015, he was the Italian Ambassador to Athens .
