Efisio Luigi Marras

Efisio Luigi Marras (born August 28, 1955 in Domodossola ) is an Italian diplomat who has been ambassador to Athens since October 15, 2015 .

Career

On April 2, 1980, he graduated from the University of Rome with a law degree . On July 1, 1982 joined the foreign service. In the artillery of the Italian armed forces he reached the rank of Sottotenente . From 1982 to 1984 he was employed in the Latin America department . From 1985 to 1988 he was the second class legation secretary in Tehran . From 1988 to 1992 he was the first class delegation secretary to the Permanent Mission of Italy to the European Commission in Brussels . From 1992 to 1996 he was employed in the office of the Foreign Minister. From 1996 to 2000 he was First Class Counselor in Washington, DC From 2000 to 2002 he was First Class Counselor in Tel Aviv . From 2002 to 2004 he was employed in the Coordination Office for Sub-Saharan Africa . From 2004 to 2005 he held the post of Diplomatic Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister. From 2005 to 2008 he was the office manager of the State Secretary in the Foreign Ministry. From 2009 to 2010 he was Deputy Director General of the Mediterranean States and Middle East Department .

From 2010 to 2013 he was ambassador to Valletta , Malta .

From 2013 to October 15, 2015, he managed global affairs and relationships with Africa, Asia and Latin America.

He has been ambassador in Athens since October 15, 2015 .
