Claus Anshof

Claus Anshof (born June 30, 1934 in Gleiwitz ) is a German educator and historian.

He headed the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Göppingen , which was founded in 1968 as a "Gymnasium under construction", from 1968 to 1996. In addition, he was active as a community and district council and was chairman of the Staufer Society for many years. After his retirement he devoted himself mainly to local research and wrote several publications about his home community Gammelshausen and the neighboring communities Bad Boll and Dürnau . In 2009 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his diverse commitment.

Professional background

After graduating from high school in Königstein i. T. Claus Anshof studied in Tübingen and Mainz the subjects German, English and history. After teaching in Feuerbach and Kornwestheim, at the age of 34 he was entrusted with the task of running the Göppingen-Holzheim Progymnasium under construction, which then became the Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium under his direction. Starting with seven teachers in temporary rooms, he demonstrated organizational skills, assertiveness and a willingness to compromise. In 1969 he moved to Gammelshausen with his family.

voluntary work

Claus Anshof was a member of the district council for the CDU from 1972 to 1984. He was on the municipal council of Gammelshausen from 1971 to 1998. From 1991 to 2004 he chaired the Society for Staufer History . After his retirement in 1996, he mainly devoted himself to local research and imparted his knowledge in lectures and publications. Among other things, he wrote a historical theater play "Frau Berta auf dem Bollen" about Berta von Boll .

Honors

Among the honors that Claus Anshof received are the Gammelshausen Community Medal (1986), the Federal Cross of Merit (1994), the Göppingen Citizens Medal (2004) and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class (2009). “Claus Anshof is a committed researcher into the history of the Staufer family. As an author, speaker and sponsor, he has contributed to countless projects and has made a special contribution to conveying historical relationships to an interested lay audience.
