Claus Beneking

Claus Beneking (born August 25, 1955 in Weimar ) is a German manager. He was CEO of ersol AG until 2008 .

Life

Claus Beneking studied physics at RWTH Aachen University and received his doctorate in 1985 on the subject of the fluorescence of merocyanine dyes on zinc oxide single crystals . From 1985 to 1991 he was a research assistant at Philips in Aachen and Eindhoven in the field of light and gas discharge technology. In 1991 he went to Forschungszentrum Jülich as a research assistant, where he was responsible for setting up and managing a research laboratory for silicon thin-film solar cells. In 1998 he moved to RWTH Aachen University and headed a laboratory for processing and characterization of multicrystalline silicon solar cells.

In 2000 Beneking became managing director of ErSol Solarstrom GmbH & Co. KG. Since its conversion into a stock corporation in 2001, he has been the spokesman for the board. With the transfer of the majority of the company shares from Ersol to Robert Bosch GmbH , Beneking announced that he would soon be leaving the company “for personal reasons”. On September 1, 2008, he was replaced by Holger von Hebel as CEO.

From 2008 to 2014 he was a consultant on economic issues relating to renewable energy systems. From August 2014 to 2016 Claus Beneking was managing director of the Reiner Lemoine Institute . Claus Beneking took over from Jochen Twele.

After purchasing the Villa Lietzenburg on the island of Hiddensee , Claus Beneking and his wife devoted themselves to the renovation of the building, which has since been used for accommodation and cultural events.
