Claus Haebler

Claus Haebler (born August 2, 1931 in Chemnitz ) is a German linguist and professor emeritus at the University of Münster .

Haebler studied in Leipzig until his doctorate in 1958. As the successor to Karl Horst Schmidt , Haebler headed the Institute for Indo-European Studies in Münster from 1972 . He is an expert in Ancient and Middle Indo-Aryan , Ancient Iranian and Greek linguistics , especially historical lexicology , loanword research ; Albanology or Arvanitic . He is a member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen .
