Claus Matecki

Claus Matecki (born January 17, 1949 in Wanne-Eickel ) is a German trade unionist. From 2006 to 2014 he was a member of the executive board of the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB). Matecki has been a member of IG Metall since 1972 and of the SPD since 1980 .

Matecki is a trained technical draftsman and educator .

He began his trade union activity in the trade union education work as a pedagogical employee of the education center of IG Metall in Sprockhövel and the educational facility "Heinrich Hansen" of IG Druck und Papier in Lage-Hörste (1983 to 1990). From 1991 to 2002 Matecki was 1st authorized representative (chairman) of the Magdeburg administrative office of IG Metall. In 2002 he moved to the management of IG Metall in Frankfurt am Main - initially as head of the organization function, then as head of the "coordination of board tasks" and office manager of the then 1st chairman of IG Metall Jürgen Peters .

At the 18th Ordinary Federal Congress of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB), Matecki was elected to the executive board in the second ballot in May 2006. At the 19th Ordinary Federal Congress on May 17, 2010, Matecki was re-elected in the first ballot with 53.2 percent of the valid votes.

In the executive board of the DGB he was responsible for economic , financial and tax policy , the DGB budget and internal financial matters as well as various administrative tasks .
