Claus Priesner
Claus Priesner (born November 4, 1947 in Munich ) is a German science historian . He is professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich for the history of natural sciences with a focus on the history of chemistry in the 18th and 19th centuries, the history of alchemy in the early modern period, the history of mining and metallurgy and the history of drugs .
Life
After studying chemistry and obtaining his doctorate in 1977, he worked at the Deutsches Museum . In addition to the indexing of Hermann Staudinger's estate , further research was carried out on the history of chemistry and mining . From 1984 to 2012 he was the specialist editor of Neue Deutsche Biographie for the departments of natural sciences, medicine, pharmacy, mathematics, cartography, research trips, technology, mining, and agriculture and forestry. After completing his habilitation in Munich in 1997, he was appointed adjunct professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 2004 .
