Clausewitz engine
The Clausewitz Engine is a game engine developed by Paradox Development Studio and first used in 2007. It was named after the Prussian major general and army reformer Carl von Clausewitz .
history
Paradox developed the “Clausewitz Engine” for Europa Universalis III . Since then, it has been used in all of the company's own developments. With the successor Europa Universalis IV , the game engine was already used in the further developed version 2.5.
Modding
The use of unencrypted text and image data makes it easier to intervene and modding both the data of individual scores and the general appearance and mechanics of the games. In May 2016, Paradox released a tool that allows models created in Maya to be used directly in games based on the engine.
Jomini
From Imperator: Rome , Clausewitz is supplemented by the Jomini engine named after Antoine-Henri Jomini . While Clausewitz can basically be used for games of any genre, Jomini specializes in games in which the player looks at a map from above (“ top-down, map-based games ”). According to the developers, the most important new features are tools that allow you to work on Jomini-based games without any programming knowledge. These should also Modder benefit.
