Jean-Baptiste Delaborde
Jean-Baptiste Thillais Delaborde (born June 9, 1730 in Nevers , † late January 1777 in Colancelle ; also De La Borde) was a French theologian and inventor.
Life
Delaborde entered the Jesuit order as a novice in 1745 . After the dissolution of the order in France in 1762 he went to Poznan for some time . After his return he lived until his death as a pastor in Colancelle, a village in the Nièvre department .
Clavessin électrique
Delaborde invented the clavessin électrique . This electric “harpsichord” worked with an electric current generated by friction, which, triggered by a keyboard, made small hammer bells sound. The invention was on view at Delaborde and astonished the public. The instrument and the treatise are kept in the French National Library.
