Cleistocactus colademononis is a species of the genus Cleistocactus in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The species name means monkey tail and refers to the appearance of the richly hairy plant body.
description
Cleistocactus colademononis grows pendulous, branching at the base and becomes up to 2.5 meters long. The diameter of the light green bodies is 3 to 7 centimeters. The 14 to 20 low ribs are covered with areoles at intervals of 3 to 6 millimeters. From them arise (0 to) 4 to 8 more or less downward, bristle-like yellowish and 20 to 50 hair-shaped, white, 4 to 8 (up to 12) centimeters long thorns . The hair-like thorns grow back.
The flower is zygomorphic , 7 to 8 inches long and brightly red in color. It appears almost horizontally at the areole. The fruit is more or less spherical, reddish and has a diameter of 8 to 12 millimeters. After drying, it tears open lengthways. The seeds are black, 1.1 to 1.4 millimeters long and slightly curved. They germinate easily.
