Cleistocactus piraymirensis is a species of plant in the genus Cleistocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Cleistocactus piraymirensis grows as a shrub with upright, gray-green shoots that are branched at the base and tapered to the tip and reaches heights of up to 1 meter with diameters of up to 3 centimeters. There are about 15 ribs . The areoles are far apart. The needle-like, thin thorns are whitish. The downward central spine is 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters long. The 12 to 18 radial spines are spread out and 4 to 10 millimeters long.

The somewhat zygomorphic , magenta-colored flowers are slightly S-shaped. They are 5 to 6 centimeters long and reach a diameter of up to 1.2 centimeters. The flower tube is covered with white hair and up to 2 centimeters long, white hair and up to 1 centimeter long bristles. The greenish purple fruits are up to 1.5 centimeters long. They are covered with some white hair and bristles up to 1 centimeter long.

Distribution and systematics

Cleistocactus piraymirensis is widespread in the Bolivian department of Santa Cruz in the province of Vallegrande . It was first described in 1961 by Martín Cárdenas .
