Clelin Ferrell (born May 17, 1997 in Richmond , Virginia ) is an American football player on the defensive end for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Clemson University .

Early career

Ferrell attended Benedictine College Prep in Virginia, an all-male military school. There he was an all-state football star.

college

Ferrell has been named a 4-star recruit by 247Sports, one of the top 300 players in the country, and the fifth best talent in Virginia. After a Redshirt year, he was elected to the All-America Team in college football in 2017. On January 13, 2018, Ferrell announced that he would play another season for Clemson. Previously, it was assumed that Ferrell would sign up for the 2018 draft. He received the first 2018 Tim Bourret Award , presented to the player who best represents himself, his teammates and Clemson University in the media.

On January 11, 2019, Ferrell announced that he would forego his final year and stand ready for the 2019 NFL Draft .

Ferrell was selected by the Oakland Raiders with the 4th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Ferrell graduated from college in December 2018 with a degree in sports communications.
