Clemens Basdorf

Clemens Basdorf (born July 11, 1949 ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Life

Basdorf began his career in the judiciary of the state of Berlin in 1976 . After his probationary period he became a judge at the Berlin Regional Court in 1979 . In 1980/1981 there was initially a brief secondment as a research assistant to the Federal Prosecutor General at the Federal Court of Justice , and then until 1984 to be seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant . He was then transferred to the Federal Public Prosecutor's department for criminal revision matters. In 1988 he returned to Berlin and was appointed presiding judge at the Berlin Regional Court.

In 1990 Clemens Basdorf became a judge at the Federal Court of Justice and has since been a member of the 5th Criminal Senate of the Federal Court of Justice in Leipzig , which is responsible for appeals in criminal cases from the districts of the Higher Regional Court ( Berlin ), the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court ( Hamburg ), the Higher Regional Courts of Brandenburg , Braunschweig , Bremen and Dresden . He was also a member of the Senate for Legal Matters and the Grand Senate for Criminal Matters since 1996 . Since August 2006 he has been chairman of the 5th criminal senate and the senate for auditing matters and matters relating to tax advisors and tax agents. He succeeded as presiding judge Monika Harms , who had been appointed federal prosecutor.

Well-known criminal proceedings before the Federal Court of Justice in which Basdorf was involved included the criminal proceedings against Robert Hoyzer in 2006 for the soccer betting scandal and the proceedings for the murder of Hatun Sürücü in 2007.

When Basdorf reached the age limit, he retired on November 1, 2014.
