Clemens Becker

Clemens Becker (born September 20, 1869 in Altenbüren ; † March 21, 1961 in Lemgo ) was a social democratic state politician in the state of Lippe . From 1919 to 1920 he was President of Lippe as chairman of the presidium of the Lippe state parliament.

Life

Becker was a wheelwright until 1901 . Most recently he was a works foreman in a car factory. After that, Becker was managing director of the Lippischer Konsumverein in Lemgo until 1917 . He then worked until 1920 as a warehouse manager for the Lippe Economic Community.

Between 1897 and 1903 Becker was chairman of the SPD in Lemgo. He was also a city ​​councilor there since 1898 . From 1899 to 1908 he was a member of the Lippe state parliament . Almost constantly between 1903 and 1928 he ran in vain for the Reichstag. During the November Revolution he was chairman of the Lippe People's and Soldiers' Council . From 1919 to 1920 he was again a member of the state parliament. From February 1919 to December 1920 Becker was also chairman of the Lippe state presidium. Then he was from 1921 to 1933 first official in the administrative office Brake (with the title of district administrator ). In 1932 he was initially released from running the business and shortly afterwards was put into temporary retirement .

After the end of National Socialist rule , Becker was appointed mayor of Lemgo by British commander Harwey in 1945 and held the post until 1946. He was also chairman of the denazification committee for Lippe from 1946 to 1948 .
