Clemens Fuhl
Clemens Fuhl OESA (born June 18, 1874 in Aidhausen , † March 31, 1935 in La Paz ) was a German Augustinian hermit .
Life
He took his religious vows on September 18, 1894 and was ordained a priest on August 1, 1897. From 1902 he worked as an advisor to the provincial and novice master. In 1905 he became secretary of the provincial and in 1908 clerical magister. After the priory and other duties, he was elected provincial three times between 1920 and 1927. In 1929 he became Commissioner of the German Augustinians in the USA and founded the Canadian Order Province. In 1931 he became Prior General of the Augustinian Order. During a visitation trip he died of altitude sickness in Bolivia .
Clemens Fuhl was first buried in the Franciscan crypt in La Paz. In 1953 his bones were transferred to the Augustinian Church (Würzburg) . Bishop Josef Stangl opened the beatification process in 1962. In December 2013 he was awarded the heroic degree of virtue .
