Clemens von Ketteler (politician)

Baron Clemens August von Ketteler (born May 13, 1806 ; † December 2, 1881 in Münster ) was a German manor owner and politician.

Life

Clemens von Ketteler was the third child of District Administrator Maximilian Freiherr von Ketteler (1779–1832) and his wife Clementine nee. von der Wenge (1778–1844) born. Wilhelm Emmanuel von Ketteler and Wilderich von Ketteler were his brothers. He came from the Westphalian noble family von Hüsten , which later called itself von Ketteler . Clemens von Ketteler, who was a Catholic denomination, married Antonia Freiin von Korff (* June 17, 1809; † February 18, 1870) in Harkotten on April 23, 1833. The marriage resulted in the children Friedrich (* 1839), Luise (* 1842), Wilhelm (* 1845), Maria (* 1849) and Otto (* 1851).

Clemens von Ketteler was the master of Harkotten , Möllenbeck and Bollen. He was appointed chamberlain . He was often a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia . In 1837 and 1841 he was a representative of Prince Alexander zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Hohenstein , in 1843 and 1845 as a representative of Duke Prosper zu Arenberg and in 1851 as a representative of Prince Wilhelm Friedrich zu Salm-Horstmar participant in the state parliament. In 1852 he took part in the state parliament as an elected deputy and from 1860 to 1877 as an elected member of the knighthood in the electoral district of East Münster.
