Clinton is a municipality in the northwest of the US state Ohio and is located in Summit County .

geography

The community covers an area of 9.4 km². 9.2 km² of this is land and 0.2 km² is water. The share of the water surface corresponds to around 2.5%. After the census of 2000 there lived only 1,337 people.

The place is on the eastern bank of the largely canalized Tuscarawas River . The Ohio-Erie Canal is also not far from the town .

The intersection of two historically significant waterways near the village is worth seeing. The Tuscarawas River and the Erie Canal, created in the 19th century, cross here. At that time, Clinton was developing into a wealthy town. Today the place is nothing more than a suburb of the small town of Akron . Along old towpaths there are information boards about the former function and importance of the two waterways, especially the Erie Canal.
