The Clinton County Courthouse in Clinton , the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Clinton County in the eastern part of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .

history

After the county was officially established in 1837, the first administrative headquarters were established in Camanche for three years . In 1842 the administration was relocated to DeWitt , but did not yet have a permanent seat. In 1854, a courthouse was completed in DeWitt. In 1869 the administrative headquarters were moved to Clinton. After the administration was housed one after the other in different buildings, it was decided in 1892 to build a new court and administration building.

Under the architect MS Mansfield commissioned with the construction , the new building was constructed in the neo-Romanesque style until 1897.

The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 with reference number 81000230 .
