The Club Alpino San Marino (CASM) ( German  San Marino Alpine Club ) is the only association of mountaineers and mountain enthusiasts in San Marino .

history

In 1993 some speleologists founded the Gruppo Speleologico Sammarinese (GSS). The official goal was only the exploration and inspection of caves. Soon other activities such as trekking, mountaineering, ski touring and climbing were being carried out by the GSS. Therefore, in 2004 the name of GSS was changed to the current name Club Alpino San Marino . The CASM organizes climbing tours and expeditions . In 2009, Mount Everest was the destination of such an expedition.

An encounter with the mountain guide Paolo Caruso in 2008 led to the founding of the Accademia Internazionale Montagna e Arrampicata (IAMA), a climbing and mountaineering school. According to the statute of the CASM, all courses in this mountaineering school are carried out according to the principles of the Caruso method .

The duration of the existence of the association was specified in the statutes as of December 31, 2050, but includes the possibility of an extension or an early dissolution.
