Hrvatski planinarski savez ( German  Croatian Mountaineering Association - HPS for short ) is the national Croatian mountaineering association , which was founded on October 15, 1874 on the initiative of Bude Budisavljević and Đuro Pilar.

Its headquarters are in Zagreb , Croatia, and it has been publishing the magazine Hrvatski planinar ( German:  The Croatian Mountaineer ) since 1898 .

The HPS has been a UIAA member since 1991 and a member of the Balkan Mountaineering Union (BMU), as well as a member of the EUMA since 2017 .

It unites the local mountaineering associations in Croatia, looks after mountain huts and trails in the Croatian mountains and coordinates and promotes the activities of mountain guides. The climbers themselves are not members of the HPS, but of the local association.
