The Giovane Montagna (long name: Assocazione Alpinistica Giovane Montagna) is an Italian mountaineering association that was founded in 1914. It is based in Turin and operates a refuge , two mountain holiday homes and several bivouacs .

The Giovane Montagna publishes its own magazine, the Rivista di Vita Alpina .

history

The association was founded in Turin in 1914 by 12 young people as a non-political association with the aim of promoting the technical and sporting aspects of alpinism while also taking human and Christian values ​​into account. Pier Giorgio Frassati was among its members .

Sections

There is also the Pier Giorgio Frassati subsection . This is aimed at mountain enthusiasts living all over Italy who do not have the opportunity to join a local section. This subsection is managed centrally by the association.

In addition, Giovane Montagna has three mountain holiday homes with self-contained apartments, each with its own kitchen:

as well as with the Casa di San Giacomo di Entracque via a refuge with bunk beds at 1200  m slm .

Mountain holiday homes and shelters can only be used by members after booking in advance.
