The clubhouse Eseltritt is a ski and clubhouse of the Am Albis section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). It is 1.5 km below the Ibergeregg pass in the direction of Schwyz, on the pass road from Oberiberg to Schwyz , at 1321  m above sea level. M. in the Schwyz Prealps in the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland .

history

On October 8, 1933, the clubhouse Eseltritt, newly built by the Am Albis section , was inaugurated by 800 guests. The hut was primarily intended to serve as a base for ski training for the section members. The number of visitors exceeded expectations and increased continuously after there were already 2000 visitors in the first year between Christmas and Easter. In 1937 the hut got a telephone connection.

During the Second World War , training and tours were kept to a minimum. Since the hut was in the Réduit area , the military often stayed here. The hut boss Balz Luchsinger did his active service mostly as a chef in the donkey kick. In 1940 the kerosene light was replaced by electricity. From the post-war years, the hut was rented to schools and clubs on a weekly basis. The number of overnight stays rose from 3600 (1948) to 6000 (1959).

In 1969 there was a major expansion (sanitary facilities, storage rooms, meeting rooms) and in 1983 the hut was converted for families and groups of up to ten people and group events of up to 50 people. In the 1990s, the clubhouse was occupied by an average of 3300 guests a year.

The hut offers 34 beds (bedrooms with bunk beds) and 16 beds as a dormitory as well as a separate room with shower for the group leader.

The area around the Ibergeregg and the Mythen is ideal for hikes and mountain hikes and is an attractive climbing area. Various snowshoe and ski tours are possible during winter. The Mythen region has twelve ski lifts and two cable cars.
