With Schwyzer Alps the part of is called central Swiss Alps in the canton of Schwyz . According to the Swiss Alpine Club , they are listed as the Schwyz Pre-Alps in an alpine guide together with the Unterwaldner Pre-Alps and the Lucerne Pre-Alps ( Pilatus-Schrattenflue chain ). Muotatal and Wägital are some well-known valleys in the Schwyz Pre-Alps.

- Group of Rossberg in the northwest bordering the canton of Zug
- Group of Rigi in the west bordering the Lake Lucerne
- Alptal mountains in the north
- Muotatal Alps
- Group around the Schächentaler Windgallen in the south
- the group around Aubrig and Etzel west of the Wägital
- the group around the Mutteristock east of the Wägital
- the Sihl Valley Alps in the headwaters of the Sihl
Delimitation according to SOIUSA
According to SOIUSA , the so-called Schwyzer and Urner Voralpen form subsection 14.IV. The southern parts of this classification belong to the canton of Uri .
They border on:
- In the north-west of the Mittelland
- In the northeast to the Appenzell and St. Gallen Pre-Alps bounded by the Linthal
- To the east on the Glarus Alps separated by Linthal , Klöntal , Pragelpass , Bisistal
- In the south on the Osturner Alps bordered by the Schächental
- In the southwest of the Urner Alps separated by the Reuss
- In the west to the Lucerne Pre-Alps , separated by Lake Lucerne.

- Chaiserstock - 2515 m
- Rossstock - 2461 m
- Druesberg im Hoch-Ybrig - 2282 m
- Mythen - 1898 m
- Rigi - 1797 m
- Furggelenstock - 1656 m
- Rossberg - 1567 m
The mountains around the Schächentaler Windgällen - 2764 m , belong to the Schwyz and Uri foothills according to SOIUSA , but are already in the canton of Uri before the Osturn Alps begin after the Schächental .
Due to the eastern boundary in the Bisistal , the highest mountains in the canton of Schwyz already fall to the Glarus Alps . These are:
- Grisset (Guet Fulen) - 2721 m
- Höch Turm - 2664 m
- Jegerstöck - 2584 m
- Pfannenstock - 2573 m
