Central Swiss Prealps

The Central Switzerland Prealps is a name for the Prealps in Central Switzerland , i. H. in the cantons of Obwalden , Nidwalden , Lucerne , Zug , Schwyz and Uri . They are divided into the Lucerne Pre-Alps , Unterwaldner Pre-Alps and Schwyz Pre-Alps . According to older representations and a. in the Geographical Dictionary of Switzerland the whole were Emmental Alps , u. a. also areas of the Bernese Oberland to Thun , Interlaken and Brienz counted as part of the Central Swiss Prealps, according to newer and SOIUSA the western border of the Lucerne Prealps and thus the Central Swiss Prealps runs along the Emmental and Mariental (i.e. on the map without areas XIV and XV) .
