Clyde Alexander

Clyde Charles Alexander (born July 1, 1892 in Fresno , California - † June 27, 1963 ) was an American brigadier general in the US Army .

Life

After attending school, Alexander completed an officer training course and was then an officer in the field artillery, with which he took part in the First World War . After the war he became the office of the US National Guard was added and was there first since October 13, 1938 Deputy Head and after his promotion to Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant-Colonel) of 13 July 1940 to 27 November 1941 Head of the Supply Department. After December 24, 1941 Colonel (Colonel) had been promoted, he first served as commander ( Commanding Officer ) of the 72nd Field Artillery Regiment (72nd Field Artillery Regiment) and subsequently between May 27 and July 6, 1942 Commander of the Americal Division's artillery used in the Solomon Islands and the Philippines during the Pacific War .

Following Alexander served since July 1942, first as deputy chief of staff and temporarily de as acting chief of staff of the supply troops in the region Southwest Pacific SWPA ( South West Pacific Area ) , before moving to his promotion to brigadier general (Brigadier-General) on February 3, 1943 Chief of Staff of the Supply Forces in the Southwest Pacific Region. He held this position until November 1944. After the end of World War II he found further employment in the US Army and was honored with the Army Distinguished Service Medal on December 6, 1948 for his services in the Pacific War . He also received the Army Commendation Medal and retired in July 1952.
