The Cobelfret N.V. is a Belgian logistics company based in Antwerp . The company deals in particular with the sea transport ( bulk - shipping and designated by the term "short sea shipping" maritime transport in the European area). Cobelfret also operates terminals and offers transport solutions in Europe.

Cobelfret was founded in 1928 by members of the Luxembourg Cigrang family, who have managed the company to this day. Cobelfret currently employs around 1680 people with an annual turnover of around one billion euros.

Areas of activity

Cobelfret first worked in the cement industry and then turned to shipping in 1939 . Today the company's activities are not limited to just one area.

Bulk cargo transport

Cobelfret is involved in the transport of 50 million tons of bulk goods a year, including a. Coal , iron ore and bauxite , involved all over the world. The company operates a fleet of its own and chartered bulk carriers with a gross carrying capacity of between 50,000 and 200,000 tons.

Cobelfret offers regular scheduled services between Great Britain, Scandinavia and mainland Europe. The fleet of around 20 RoRo ships transports truck trailers , containers, cars and other rolling goods and is managed by the EuroShip company.

Terminals

Cobelfret operates several terminals for handling vehicles, containers and trailers, most of them with pier for RoRo ships, in Purfleet, Dartford , Killingholme, Rotterdam , Vlissingen , Zeebrugge , Duisburg and Luxembourg.

Domestic transport

Cobelfret also carries out land transports for rolling goods: by rail in 400 double-decker and 200 flat car carriers , by road with four of its own car carriers or across inland waterways with three RoRo ships designed for inland shipping .
