Coenonympha vaucheri is a butterfly ( butterfly ) from the family of Edelfalter (NYMPHALIDAE), which in Morocco occurs.

description

The moths have a large oval black eye spot (ocelle) with two white dots at the apex of the underside of the forewing. The stain is not cored on the upper side. In the male, the upper side of the forewings, which is sometimes covered in brown, is orange. On the upper side of the hind wing there is a straight line made up of four to five black, non-nucleated ocelles, of which sometimes a small line is slightly offset in the M 1 -M 2 vein . The high-contrast undersides of the forewings are blackish olive-green at the base, lighter orange in front with a whitish discal region and dark gray-brown behind. The hind wing undersides are black-brown at the base and lighter outward. The wide, whitish discal band has a white, triangular spot in the cell. The post-disk region is dark gray-brown with six approximately equal sized black, white pithead eye spots with a pale yellow border. The females are very similar. They are slightly larger and usually without dark pollination on the upper side of the wings. Their markings are sharper than those of the males.

The form annoceuri Wyatt flies in the Middle Atlas and is usually smaller, the dark pollination of the upper side is missing and the eye spots are smaller.

The form rifensis Weiss flies in the Rif , is smaller, paler on the upper and lower side and less contrasting on the underside of the hind wing. The eye spot on the forewing top is usually slightly smaller than that of the nominate form .

The form beraberensis Lay & Rose flies in the High Atlas and is larger, has a larger spot on the forewing upper and lower surface and is lighter and more yellowish in the postdiscal region of the forewings. The underside of the forewing is more contrasting.
