Cofete

Playa Cofete

Cofete is a lonely situated village on the northwest coast of the peninsula Jandía on to Spain belonging Canary Island Fuerteventura . It belongs to the municipality of Pájara .

The place itself is characterized by a few poor huts and an unusually massive bar. The locals from Morro Jable , on the other side of the ridge, often only come here on weekends. For residents and tourists who do not have the opportunity to travel by themselves, there is a bus connection between Morro Jable and Cofete, which is served twice a day.

Not far from Cofete is the Villa Winter, which was built immediately after the end of the Second World War and is surrounded by rumors . The small cemetery on the beach is also associated with the construction of the villa and the then military restricted area on the Jandía peninsula.

Beach

Cofete beach is one of the most beautiful in the country. This was also the opinion of the customers of the Internet platform TripAdvisor in 2014. It made it to number five on the national best list and number 23 in a European comparison. Bathing on the beach is not recommended due to the dangers of the often very high surf and sometimes strong surf back currents and repeatedly leads to sometimes fatal swimming accidents.

An attempt is being made to reintroduce sea turtles in a guarded beach area.
