Coffeehouse (Russian spelling Russian Кофе Хауз ) is a Russian coffee house chain that is also represented in Ukraine and, according to its own information, was the market leader in Russia. In October 2014 the company was taken over by the Russian restaurant mogul Alexander Kolobov , who u. a. controls the Schokoladniza ( Shokoladnitsa or Шоколадница) coffee houses and around 100 Burger King branches in Russia and is a partner in Yi-Ko Holding in Stade near Hamburg .

The company was founded by the Russian entrepreneur Timur Chairutdinov, who opened the first branch in Moscow on September 29, 1999 . Soon more coffee houses were added and the company expanded into the Ukraine . To date (2013), the branches are only located in cities with over a million inhabitants , besides Moscow in Saint Petersburg , Novosibirsk , Yekaterinburg , Kazan and Kiev .
In 2004, the company started a brand under the name "Asia Cafe" that focuses on Asian cuisine. In 2006 another brand was introduced with “Vinaigrette Cafe”, which focused on traditional Russian cuisine. When Starbucks expanded into the Russian market, Coffeehouse increasingly lost market share to its American competitor and ran into financial difficulties from 2007 onwards, but was able to stabilize again after several investors entered the market. In 2013, the company operated around 200 branches, including 62 in Saint Petersburg. In 2014, Coffeehouse was taken over by Alexander Kolobov, some of the houses are being converted into Burger Kings and Vabi Sabi restaurants, but also into Schokoladnitsa coffee shops.
