Cohors Trumplinorum
The Cohors Trumplinorum ( German cohort of the Trumpiliner ) was a Roman auxiliary unit . It is evidenced by an inscription.
Name components
- Trumplinorum : [the] Trumpiliner . The soldiers of the cohort were when installing the unit from the Raetian tribe of Trumpiliner who in Val Trompia lived recruited.
Since there is no evidence of the additions milliaria (1000 men) and equitata (partially mounted), it can be assumed that it is a pure infantry cohort, a Cohors (quingenaria) peditata . The nominal strength of the unit was 480 men, consisting of 6 Centuries with 80 men each.
history
After the conquest of the Alpine region under Augustus around 15 BC. BC (see Augustan Alpine campaigns and Tropaeum Alpium ) were formed from the tribes of the Raetians and Vindelik auxiliary troop units, which were commanded by local leaders.

Members of the cohort
A commander of the cohort, Staius , a prefect and princeps Trumplinorum , is known by the inscription ( CIL 5, 4910 ).
