Colart de Brimeu from the Brimeu house was the son of Guillaume III, called Florimond II (X 1408), and Marie de Sains. He was Seneschal and Governor of Ponthieu and Panetier (bread master) of the Duke of Burgundy. On January 10, 1430 Philip the Good made him one of the 25 founding members of the Order of the Golden Fleece with the diploma No. 17. Florimond III. was the nephew of David de Brimeu (No. 7) and Jacques de Brimeu (No. 19), who are also among the founding members of the order. In a trial in 1435, Florimond enforced that his uncle David was not allowed to use the original Brimeu coat of arms.
