Coldingham is a village in the northeast of the Scottish Council Area Scottish Borders or in the traditional county of Berwickshire . It is located around four kilometers northwest of Eyemouth and 15 kilometers northeast of Duns . Coldingham is about a kilometer away from the North Sea coast . The port of St Abbs is located on the local Coldingham Bay . To the northwest is Coldingham Moor .
history
In 1097 the Scottish King Edgar donated the lands of Coldingham to the Benedictine monks of Durham Abbey . The following year they built a church there, from which the Coldingham Priory emerged .
Coldingham was the eponymous capital of Coldinghamshire , a district that took up about an eighth of the area of Berwickshire. In 1638 Coldingham was promoted to the status of a Burgh of Barony . Alexander Home, 10th Earl of Home donated the Coldingham Market Cross in 1815 .
Between 1861 and 1891 the population decreased from 655 to 492. While 392 people lived in Coldingham in 1961, the 2011 census survey counted 563 residents.

The A6107 through Eyemouth is the main road into Coldingham. A few kilometers south runs the A1 , which connects London with Edinburgh . In centuries past, Coldingham was a rest stop along the coast road coming from Edinburgh.
