Coldside Branch Public Library
The Coldside Branch Public Library is a library in the Scottish city of Dundee in the council area of the same name . In 1965 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
history
The library is one of the Carnegie Libraries . Andrew Carnegie donated £ 7,200 to build it. The Scottish architect Frank Drummond Thomson , the son of Dunde city architect James Thomson, provided the design . The sculptor Albert Hodge is responsible for the sculptural design . The library opened in 1908.

The Coldside Branch Public Library stands prominently on Strathmartine Road at a roundabout that meets five streets north of downtown Dundee. The main facade of the neo-baroque building, which is exposed to the north-east, is prominently concave. The masonry of the windowless upper floor is made of brick . Doric columns structure the facade between the flat window elements. They carry a simple framework . The central entrance area is designed with paired Doric columns and a broken triangular gable . Its tympanum is sculptured with cherubs . The cornice closing the facade is designed with a tooth cut . The narrow side facades are monumentally designed with Doric columns that support a broken triangular gable. Colossal Ionic columns flank it .
