Cole Bassett (* 28. July 2001 in Littleton , Colorado ) is an American football player who in the MLS - Franchise Colorado Rapids has a contract. The midfielder has been the US U20 international since January 2020 .
Career
society
In Littleton , Colorado -born Cole Bassett joined in 2017 by his youth club Colorado Rush in the youth academy of the MLS - Franchise Colorado Rapids . On August 10, 2018, he signed his first professional contract as a homegrown player with this club . He made his Major League Soccer debut on September 9, 2018 (28th matchday) in a 2-0 away defeat by the Portland Timbers when he was substituted on for Kortne Ford in the 71st minute of the game . He was used regularly in the remaining league games of the 2018 season . On the last match day, October 28, 2018, he scored for the first time in a 2-1 home win against FC Dallas . He ended the game year with six league appearances in which he could score once.
In the next game year, 2019 , he retained his status as a rotation player, but also started more frequently. On April 7, 2019 (6th matchday), he scored his first goal of the season in the 3: 4 away defeat against Orlando City and prepared another goal. This season → he played 20 league games in which he scored twice. After the season, Bassett trained for a week with the Arsenal U23 team , but a change did not materialize in the January transfer window that followed.
National team
On January 16, 2020, Cole Bassett played his first international match for the US U20 national team . He was in the starting line-up in the friendly against Mexico and scored both goals to make it 2-0 before the half-time break.
