Colin Charles Walker

Colin Charles Walker (* 1952 ) is a British botanist who mainly specialized in collecting seed plants . He is particularly concerned with the genus of aloes , the silk plant family and the cranesbill family . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " CCWalker ".

life and career

In the course of his career he specialized primarily in the plant genus of the aloes, but made initial descriptions of other genera in the early 1980s . Among other things, from Brachystelma mortonii , which belongs to the genus Brachystelma , to Monsonia lavrani (Halda) and × Tavarorbea . Furthermore, he also defined the genus Umbilicus , and has been looking after the Bradleya since 2001 , which mainly deals with cacti and succulents.

Together with Susan Carter , John Jacob Lavranos and Leonard Eric Newton he was the author of the 2011 plant guide Aloes. The definitive guide .

In addition to the aloes , other main areas of Newton are the silk plants or the cranesbill plants .
