Susan Carter Holmes

Susan Carter Holmes (* 1933 ) is a British botanist and taxonomist at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew . She discovered and described more than 200 species of the milkweed family (Euphorbiaceae), especially the succulent euphorbias from East Africa and about 20 aloes . All of her publications appeared under her maiden name Susan Carter ; its official botanical author's abbreviation is accordingly "S.Carter" .

Susan Carter Holmes has been President of the International Euphorbia Society (IES) since it was founded in 2005.

In the plant genus Euphorbia , the species Euphorbia carteriana P.ROBally , Euphorbia holmesiae Lavranos and Euphorbia susan-holmesiae Binojk. & Gopalan was named after her.
