Leonard Eric Newton (born September 26, 1936 ) is a Ghanaian botanist who specialized in collecting seed plants ; here mainly on the genus of aloes . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " LENewton ".

life and career

In the course of his career, the Ghanaian specialized primarily in the aloes plant genus and mostly went on excursions in Africa. Especially in his home country Ghana, as well as in Benin and Kenya . He also went on excursions in western Asia, including in Yemen , but also in Europe ( United Kingdom ), where he is an employee of the Natural History Museum in London . In the course of his collector's career he worked with Phillip G. Archer , Henk Jaap Beentje , Susan Carter , David John Goyder , Harry Hall , Heidrun Hartmann , John Jacob Lavranos , Sigrid Liede-Schumann , Paul Mutuku Musili , Gilfrid Powys , SA , among others Robertson and Gordon Douglas Rowley together. Other main areas of Newton were in addition to the Aloaceae also the silk plants , the grapevine plants , the Zamiaceae , the milkweed plants , the thick-leaf plants , the daisy plants , the Scilloideae or the Dracaenaceae .
