Colleen Townsend Evans (born December 21, 1928 in Glendale , California ) is an American actress and author . She played her best-known film role in 1950 in the comedy So ein Unluckvogel . Townsend's entire creative period was only 10 years.

Life

Colleen Townsend was born on December 21, 1928 in Glendale, California, and grew up in Utah , where she was later discovered during her college days. Townsend began her film career in 1944 in small supporting roles, before she was seen in leading roles after a few years. In 1947 Townsend signed a contract with 20th Century Fox . Also since 1947 she was also on the front cover of several major US magazines, including 1948 Life magazine .

Colleen Townsend's thirteen film appearances include small supporting roles in the comedy Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay! as well as in Hollywood Canteen . One of her more important roles was that of Marjorie Ransome in the drama The Walls of Jericho . 1949 followed her first leading role in Chicken Every Sunday .

Townsend had her best-known appearance as an actress in 1950 in the comedy So Eine Unluckvogel , where she again played a leading role. Despite these successes and a weekly salary of one thousand US dollars, Townsend announced the end of her acting career in the same year in order to continue to work in the Presbyterian Church and for charitable work. She also completed a degree in theology . She changed her name to Colleen Townsend Evans after she married Rev. Louis H. Evans, Jr. that same year.

After the couple became friends with Billy and Ruth Bell Graham , Colleen Townsend Evans agreed to star in two Billy Graham Evangelistic Association films. These were Oiltown, USA from 1950 and Souls in Conflict from 1954. In the years that followed, she was also involved in humanitarian work and wrote several books on religion.

In 2008 Louis H. Evans Jr. died of ALS . The couple had four children. Colleen Townsend Evans now lives in Fresno, California .
