Collingwood is a district of the Australian city of Melbourne , which is located about 3 km northeast of the city center. It is one of Melbourne's oldest neighborhoods with many buildings from the 19th century.

Collingwood was recognized as a separate parish in 1855. During the Victorian Gold Rush , the population grew rapidly and many houses were built, schools and shops opened. In 1876, Collingwood received city rights.

Today, most of the business and shopping is concentrated around Smith Street.
