The pedestrian footbridge over the Neckar in Mannheim , known as the Neckarsteg or Collini-Steg , connects the Neckaruferbauung Nord (NUB) with the Collini-Center and thus the two districts of Neckarstadt-Ost and the city center . It is located between the Kurpfalzbrücke and Friedrich-Ebert-Brücke .
history
As part of the construction work in the seventies and the associated urban planning concept with residential high-rise buildings on the Neckar, the need to create another pedestrian connection across the Neckar was seen. Originally, the Collini-Steg was continued on the inner city side of the Collini-Center at the same level in the direction of the inner city and served as a pedestrian overpass for Collini-Strasse and Friedrichsring to separate pedestrian and vehicle traffic as much as possible. This section of the Collini footbridge was demolished in the summer of 2010 because it was little frequented due to the pedestrian crossing at ground level there and was meanwhile in need of renovation.
