As Colonial Revival architecture (in English and neocolonial , Georgian Revival or Neo-Georgian ), a nationalist design movement in the United States designated. The landscape photographer Wallace Nutting contributed significantly to the growing popularity of this architectural style with his atmospheric pictures from New England . Historic attractions like the Williamsburg Historic District in Williamsburg , Virginia also made the movement well known. After World War II, the elements of the Colonial Revival merged with the ranch-style house designs popular at the time .
