Columella talgarica is a species of snail from the family of diaper snails (Vertiginidae) and belongs to the subordination of land snails (Stylommatophora).

features

The left-hand wound case is 3.6 mm high and 1.7 mm wide. It has seven only slightly arched turns. The last turn does not increase any more than the previous turns. The housing is almost cylindrical with a conical apex. The embryonic casing, roughly the first 1.5 turns, is smooth. The following turns have weak, irregular ribs, which are more dense on the first turns than on the lower turns. The mouth is inclined to the winding axis and has a thin mouth rim. This is only slightly expanded and turned over at the edge of the spindle. The navel is punctiform and open.

Similar species

Columella talgarica differs from all other species of the genus Columella by its left-hand winding casing. It is somewhat similar in outline to the casing of Columella acicularis Almuhambetova, 1979, but differs in its distinct ribs. Columella intermedia also has distinct ribs, but in this species the casing is more cylindrical and the whorls are more curved.

Geographical distribution and taxonomy

The species was only described by AA Schileyko and TS Rymzhanov in 2010 and is only known from the type locality near Talgar in Kazakhstan .
