The Columnar Valley (English for Säulental ) is a valley with northwest-southeast orientation in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the northwestern section of the Royal Society Range , it lies between The Handle ridge and Table Mountain .
Alan Sherwood, head of the New Zealand Geological Survey campaign, which ran from 1987 to 1988 , gave it its descriptive name, which is derived from the dolerite columns in the wall of the valley.
